Manchester / Iserlohn – Der ehemalige Roosters-Stürmer Jeff Giuliano hat seine aktive Karriere beendet. Am heutigen Mittwoch gab der ECHL-Club Manchester Monarchs bekannt, Giuliano als Co-Trainer unter Vertrag genommen zu haben.

Manchester, N.H. – The Manchester Monarchs announced Tuesday the naming of former Monarch, Jeff Giuliano, as assistant coach for the 2015-1 season.  The now 36-year-old played six seasons for the Monarchs from 2002 to 2008.

“We are very excited to have Jeff Giuliano join our coaching staff,” said Monarchs President Matt Welch. “Jeff will serve as a perfect example to our players that hard work and determination pays off. He played in the ECHL and worked his way to two solid seasons in the NHL. He is well respected and connected in the hockey world, and will be instrumental in our recruiting and scouting of players.”

Giuliano, a native of Nashua, N.H., played collegiately for Boston College, where he served as captain during his senior year, and won an NCAA National Championship in 2002. Giuliano finished his career at The Heights with 114 points (40 goals, 74 assists) and graduated third on the school’s career games played list, playing in 166 games over four years.

“I am very excited to start the next chapter of my life here at home and for this opportunity to coach the Monarchs,” said Giuliano. “I look forward to staying in the game and being part of this city, community, and great fan base once again. It is an honor to work with young players, and to help them obtain their goals of making it to the next level.”

Giuliano will join Monarchs head coach Richard Seeley, who was named bench boss on July 6 of this year.

“With Jeff and Rich, our coaching staff consists of two former Monarchs who know first hand how important the Monarchs are to our community,” added Welch. “They both call New Hampshire home, and we are New Hampshire’s team. This was the final piece to the puzzle from a hockey operations standpoint, and we are ready to kickoff the 2015-16 season.”

With the Monarchs, Giuliano played in 226 games, totaling 26 goals and 47 assists for 73 points and a career +24 rating.  Giuliano was part of one of the most successful Monarchs teams in franchise history during the 2006-07 season, when the club posted 51 wins and 110 points during the regular season, tying all-time records in both categories, while winning the AHL’s Atlantic Division.

The left-shooting right wing played in 101 career games in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, putting up three goals and 10 assists, along with 40 penalty minutes.

After spending a year in playing in Russia for Minsk Dynamo of the KHL, Giuliano just finished his playing career (2009-15) with six seasons with the Iserlohn Roosters of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the top-tier league in Germany.  With the Roosters, Giuliano posted 42 goals and 69 assists for 111 points, racking up 185 penalty minutes.

Giuliano and the Monarchs will open the 2015-16 season at home on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. as they host the Brampton Beast at the Verizon Wireless Arena.  Individual-game tickets for Opening Night go on sale to the public on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.
